Shio kombu is the thin strips of seasoned, dried kelp. It has been enjoyed on top of rice for centuries in Japan.
Kamada’s shio kombu is made from Rishiri kombu harvested in Hokkaido and then cooked in our Dashi Soy Sauce for a distinct flavor. Each strip is cut long and thin, offering a chewy texture with distinct kombu flavor.
Commonly used with rice or in rice balls (onigiri), but its use can be expanded into other dishes like rolled omelettes (tamagoyaki), veggie stir-fry, tea over rice (ochazuke) or pasta.
